❗️STARTING NOW❗️
Introducing our special guest for today, Chris Carella AKA @ccarella.eth! 🎨 He's not just an artist; he's a visionary, a maestro of creativity, and the mastermind behind Purple! 🌟💜
Reply with your questions for him 👇🏻
- Thank you to @ccarella.eth for taking the time to join us for the AMA! Let's start off with this question: What draws you to the Farcaster community?I joined Farcaster when it was still small, somewhat randomly, somewhat because I had been following the previous RSS+ vision a bit. When I joined I was struck by the level of discourse and quality of builders building thing. That builder energy hooked me right away and is still true today. See Frames.
- What was the inspiration for Purple? When we started Purple there were very few, if any "companies" building on FC and none with venture capital, yet there was tons of people building cool things. The inspiration for Purple was simply, lets come together and support as this building that is happening and reward peopel building with no expecation of return
- CharmVerse is an exciting project for communities to build relationships in web3. There’s plenty of features for members and communities such as the decentralized access control and token-gated forum and more. Where do you see CharmVerse situated itself in the web3 community in the future? We want to be a tool to help organizations coordinate and make decisions. This ranges from fully decentralized orgs to more traditional orgs that are using a token as a form of coordination. Our long term vision is to support the future of work.
- With the recent release of the Group DMs feature on Warpcast, you've created a Purple Group Chat. What are your thoughts after using it?I love the Group DMs and think its now maybe my #1 mode of using Warpcast. I pop into a few channels throughout the day, scroll the feed just a little but check my DM's a lot. What differentiates it from other DM systems are the people on it. My DMs are open here because the environment is filled with great people.
- Are there specific collaborations or partnerships within the Web3 space that you find particularly promising for the future of the creator economy?I'm generally excited about the future of the creator economy just from watching the people putting in the work. Watching people like @lght.eth and @nounishprof and @adrienne and @0xen who have all been grinding through the bull but also have been rewarded for it.
- What ignites your passion and drives you forward every day?I honestly LOVE this space and my work. I love the way what I'm building professionally so deeply ties into my outside participating in DAOs. I'm knee deep in trying to help build the coordination layer of the Internet and I love it. I love the people I get to collaborate with on both sides.
- Hello, i would like to know, what would you consider Farcaster’s strongest advantage over other Web3 Social Platforms? All praises to the WC team for prioritizing a great product over theoretical crypto but ultimately its the people. The way it was initially and thoughtfully built out by @dwr.eth has set a culture and quality that still exists today, now that WC is permissionless. Without the great people WC is just a cool toy.
- what is the gift that latin america brings to the world?Tortillas, Chorizo, Quesos, Frijoles... but also vibes, strong family values, prioritizing friendships, great people and lots of smiles.
- Chris, I love the women in your artwork. What is your inspiration and how do you tap into genuine feminine energy (or at least what appears to me that way)?My wife is my ultimate Muse. She was the first one to really appreciate my art and to encourage me to put in the time. To a similar but lesser extend than I had a daughter, so #girldad thing helps with feminine energy. 1/
- Who or what are your greatest traditional (non digital) artistic inspirations?Adam Dare. https://www.discoveroutloud.com/adam-dare-street-artist/ Adam is a graffiti & street artists who took me under his wing and showed me how to get up and how to work in the studio and how to move in the nyc art space. I'm forever grateful to him.
- what's one big problem you don't think we are investing enough in solving right now as an ecosystem? This is a hard one because I do think there is a lot of investing happening on big problems and it just requires some patience. Some of my favs are wallets, paymasters, protodank sharding but also full danksharding, zksync, etc.
- What's your favorite mafia movie and favorite style/toppings for pizza?lol I don't know if this is because I'm an Italian American from NYC but I have strong opinions on this. Goodfellas but there are so many good ones and plain cheese pizza but peperoni is the only other acceptable option.
- What’s the one Farcaster app / client / frame you would absolutely love to use ?I'd love for someone to really really nail MusicCaster. A special purpose music client seems like such a no-brainer and potentially the future of music fandom.
- Hey Chris! Really appreciate the energy & wisdom you bring to the FC community, especially as a passionate advocate for the arts. 2 questions: As a crypto-native artist involved w/ various DAOs & web3 art collectives, what general advice would you like to share with new, emerging creatives entering the space today?Drop the skuemorphic ideas of the gallery world. Don't think that the price "sets a value on your art". 1/1's and editions are artificial scarcity. The goal is not to have a handful of wealthy art collectors like in fine art, its to have hundreds of thousands of collectors on the internet who each give you $1.
