The first /art AMA starting now
Warm welcome to @qaulv!
Paul is the COO of https://www.fxhash.xyz/ and a generative art collector.
Post your questions for Paul in the comments
- Hi Paul, thank you so much for this! What drew you to gen-art and what is the thing that keeps you in it?I didn't find Gen Art initially. I was starting to collect on Hic et nunc, finally being able to collect Art. Something I wasn't able to do before. Then just went down a huge rabbithole, finding AB but being priced out. fxhash really is what drew me to gen art and made me fall in love with it.
- Congrats on the launch of fxhash 2.0! fx(hash) has been the dominant platform for generative art on Tezos, but how do you plan to approach the Ethereum community? It seems there is quite a big difference in community cultureIt needs a different approach for sure. But ultimately we want to also bring our culture to the Ethereum world. I am trying to be more active on Farcaster to get further ties to a more ETH-native community. It's a big process of learning - but its very fun
- Do you have an opinion on the chain in which you like to collect? Do you think we have today, the chain that our kids will use in the future?I truly believe in a multichain future. There are pros and cons to a lot of chains. At times I wish for more seamless interoperability between Chains. Etherlink can be a fun one for the future
- Two questions from me: 1. What were the primary reasons for adding Ethereum mainnet instead of L2 in fxhash 2.0? 2. Apart from generative art, what other categories of NFTs do you enjoy collecting?Getting on mainchain was the first goal. Adding L2 support will happen sooner rather than later. Not as much as should - still have a few gems from the HeN time.
- Hi Paul, thank you for doing this! Are there any specific pieces in your collection that evoke strong emotions in you?Haha :) I think a lot do. It's a 1/1 out of the 365 series by @yazid - also my birthday I always like to have this as my January screensaver - it shows the potential of the year ahead! Although not ready for 366 days haha
- Hi Paul, have you ever considered what creative incubators or camps for the fx hash community would look like?Yes and no - not in the traditional YC incubator style. We see fxhash as a baselayer where anyone can build permissionless on top. We will soon ship a SDK that will be crucial to achieve this at scale.
- Hi @qaulv! Any plans to add support for Ethereum L2s? And related, are any of the Tezos rollup technologies (i.e. Etherlink) helpful to fxhash? Could you consolidate everything to Ethereum technology and just run the Tezos part in a rollup?Yes :) As far as Etherlink, yes we are of course monitoring the situation.
- Will fx(text) see more love in the future? It's such a great idea but I feel the product has languished a bit. Many obvious features are missing (for example, embed arbitrary Tezos tokens, not just fx(hash) tokens).Yes! It will and I largely feel the same. 2024 is the year we will be focussing on much needed Improvements & Updates to fxhash as the platform, of course including fxtext. Always open for wants and needs that you have <3
- Thank you @qaulv for doing this. What has been your biggest learning building one of the most loved product in the art space? The true potential of Generative Algorithms - there is so much more to unlock. Generative Manufacturing and Fashion is something still mostly untouched.
- What’s your favorite spot in Paris? https://x.com/qaulv/status/1750155468909985939?s=46&t=S_3I_XP3T8cHIt9n0AoxoQIn February it will 100% be the D'orsay haha. I always love the time I spend there when in Paris. Being part of the amazing show by Agoria is something we are so excited about https://www.musee-orsay.fr/fr/agenda/expositions/agoria-le-code-dorsay
- Welcome! Paul, as a generative art collector, what read would you recommend us on this generative style?Must reads probably include the following: The Generative Art Timeline by LeRandom: https://timeline.lerandom.art/ Our Documentation also has a lot of info https://fxhash-documentation.super.site/generative-art-on-the-blockchain Or listen to Arbitrarily Deterministic or Waiting to be Signed
- Hi Paul, thanks for doing this and welcome. Whats are your favourite generative pieces and collections currently? That's a very hard question. Some of my favourite releases of the past year probably were: Human Unreadable - Operator, Universal Rayhatcher - Piter Pasma, and the Self Series by Ty Vek I built a Gallery showcasing some of my favourite Gen Art pieces => https://gallery.so/qaulv
- @qaulv Glad you're here! What role does AI art play in our onchain ecosystem? How do you see fxhash interfacing with image models and other systems for creating non-code based computer generated art?Love the question. Putting whole models onchain is still very cost prohibitive. We already had artists like Cyril Diagne working with our 25mb size limit. dg 5721() is one of my favorite releases. We now increased the limit to 500mb, allowing for neural networks to be utilized far easier. (1/2)
